Breathtaking sights, free champagne and suite upgrades may sound out of reach this Valentine’s Day, but it might not be when booking hotel deals with Travelocity.

The Travelocity Cruise Super Sale kicks off January 3, 2012 and ends January 31, 2012, offering travelers cruises to their favorite destinations from $189, and up to $600 in bonus savings when you use your American Express® Card.

When it comes to holiday travel, Travelocity says flexibility is always crucial – especially since average domestic airfare is up 5 percent and international airfare is up 6 percent from the 2010 holiday season.

Travel mistakes cost time and money: They start with shopping for a flight and continue right up to the day of departure. Travelocity’s Thanksgiving Task Force has monitored the nation’s busiest airports every Thanksgiving for more than a decade and found there are 10 travel mistakes that rear their ugly heads time and time again.

Travelocity culled through thousands of Las Vegas hotel reviews to find out which ones customers liked the best.

Average airfare over the Thanksgiving holiday is six percent higher than last year, but Travelocity travel experts found flight costs change dramatically based on travel days, meaning those travelers willing to be flexible are likely to save. Average domestic airfare is a whopping $213 cheaper on the least expensive travel days compared to the most expensive days.

Thanksgiving travel: While consumers will enjoy hotel deals over Thanksgiving weekend, cheap flights will be harder to find.

Travelocity’s most recent survey of customers found having kids doesn’t have to mean the end of travel. In fact, it turns out families who travel with children are more likely to have dream vacations planned than those respondents who do not.

Travelocity analyzed four years (2007 – 2010) of historical hotel booking data to find out when consumers were most likely to find cheap hotels. In every year, the cheapest average daily rate (ADR) was found one week before Labor Day. The data considers the kickoff to the weekend to be the Thursday before the holiday, or September 1 in 2011.
