The Cornell University School of Hotel Administration is very pleased to announce that J. Peter Kline '69, MS'71, a partner in Seneca Advisors, LLP, a Dallas-based consulting and private investment firm, has accepted an invitation to be the School's 2003 Executive in Residence (EIR).
The EIR program has had a long history of providing Cornell students with a unique opportunity to work and interact with outstanding leaders in our industry. It is an exciting and continuously evolving position with a term that typically runs through an academic semester. Each executive brings a different dynamic to the students in a classroom setting. Consultants, restaurateurs, hoteliers and gaming executives touch just a few of the fields of expertise shared by these high level executives.
Professor Michael H. Redlin, who has administered the program for the past few years, describes its purpose as To provide a role model for those who aspire to be a hospitality executive, to provide substantive guidance on projects, and to be a nucleus of a network, linking the Cornell Hotel Society's already extensive network with the executive's own personal one. A good profile for a Hotel School EIR, Professor Redlin says, is a successful executive with an engaging personality and substantial knowledge, and a genuine desire to work with and to develop students.
Mr. Kline's appointment as our 2003 EIR will be a wonderful addition to a list of distinguished industry leaders who have made a profound impact on our student's educational experience here at The Hotel School. To name a few of our former Executive in Residence, John Sharpe '65, former President and COO of Four Seasons Hotels, Dave Hanlon '66, former President and COO of Rio Suites Hotel & Casino and Burton Skip Sack, '61, Former Executive Vice President of Applebee's.
