Multi-Million Dollar Renovation Underway By Owners To Enhance
First Doubletree Guest Suites Property In North Carolina
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Oct. 22, 2002) - Doubletree Hotels has announced the official opening of the Doubletree Guest Suites Charlotte/SouthPark. Formerly the SouthPark Suite Hotel, this newest Doubletree all-suite property will continue to be owned by FelCor Lodging Trust Inc. and managed by Doubletree Hotel Systems, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Hilton Hotels Corporation.
Located just 10 miles from Charlotte-Douglas International Airport and adjacent to one of the city’s most prestigious shopping, dining and business districts, the Doubletree Guest Suites Charlotte-SouthPark hotel is within 20 minutes of all major business centers and tourist attractions in the greater Charlotte area.

Each of the hotel’s 187 one-bedroom, 21 two-bedroom guest suites and two presidential suites consist of between 700-1,000 square feet of living space. The guest suites, each of which offer a separate sleeping area and living/dining area with a fully equipped kitchen, also feature a host of amenities including two televisions, two telephones, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, iron and ironing board, ergonomic workspace and data port.
Tucked away amid wooded, beautifully landscaped grounds and meticulous lawns, the hotel also offers a range of services including a casual dining restaurant and lounge; a workout room (with complimentary passes to an adjacent full-service fitness center); an outdoor, heated pool with a cascading waterfall; a gift shop; and a complimentary shuttle within a three-mile radius of the hotel.
The Doubletree Guest Suites Charlotte/SouthPark also offers a selection of well-appointed meeting and banquet rooms, a private boardroom, and a beautifully landscaped courtyard for both business and social events. A $3.6 million renovation program by FelCor Lodging Trust is currently underway and is expected to be complete by the first quarter of 2003. Renovation highlights include a renewed main entrance, a renovated and expanded health club and the renovation of the Clayton ballroom. In addition, all guest suites will be renovated and updated to include larger televisions, new carpet, wall covering, bathroom tiles, bedspreads, pillows, ergonomic desk chairs, and mattresses.
Joanie Kastl, general manager of the newly named Doubletree Guest Suites Charlotte-SouthPark, said both current and new clients of the hotel would gain from the change.
