    Job Introduction
    Supports manufacturing in the resolution of packaging issues and provides manufacturing with packaging and engineering support to implement new products into production and in the resolution of packaging issues. Supports process design functions to determine appropriate returnable, expendable and single service packs by use of current engineering and continuous improvement techniques. Establishes resource requirements using engineering techniques and internal company standards. Analyze various packaging designs and vendor(s) in order to eliminate inefficiencies and reduce manufacturing costs for each launch program. Monitor and control objectives and costs of assigned project. Establish program time lines.

    Major Responsibilities
    * Provides manufacturing with packaging and technical engineering support to implement new products and processes into production. Select vendor(s), approves design, test and implement the returnable and expendable packaging for new product launches and for existing products. * Evaluate alternate materials and methods to assure continuous improvement and minimize costs. * Supports manufacturing in the resolution of packaging issues by providing ongoing packaging engineering support. * Works closely with manufacturing, manufacturing engineering, equipment engineering, material handling, etc. to insure that each packaging design meets the needs of internal customers. * Works closely with external customer contacts to insure that their needs are met. * Monitor and control objectives, costs of assigned project and establish program time lines. * Provides technical assistance in the maintenance of returnable packaging. * Acts as a member of the division's CI team, identifying opportunities for improvement, cost reduction and avoidance; leads long and short term projects aimed at waste elimination and enhancing production efficiencies; subject matters may include plant floor and work center layout, material handling, and material selection * Works closely with operations team to identify and establish project selection and leading Kaizen events, to drive down scrap and labor inefficiencies. * Lead weekly MAFACT meetings, bringing the team together to drive World Class Manufacturing. * Lead the development of Pull Systems. * Assist in developing work instructions and procedures. * Responsible to lead divisional 5S program- including audits, scorecard, and training. * Monthly WCM scorecard submission to Magna Group Office. * Lead divisional Continuous Improvement Suggestion Program. * Review designs with engineering during implementation of new processes. * Ensure processes are standardized for all operators over all shifts. * Utilize lean tools, including Value Stream Mapping, Spaghetti Diagrams, Line Balancing, and 3P or A3. * Facilitation of Kaizen Events. * Perform other duties that may be assigned by the Assistant
