    Basic Qualifications:

    • Minimum of 5 years of related experience.
    • Bachelor's degree. Experience can be subsituted in lieu of degree.
    • Must have a valid Drivers' License

     

    Additional Qualifications:

    • Pre-Employment - CPA License
    • Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word.
    • Proficient working with details on a daily basis for prolonged periods of time.
    • Extensive experience in the preparation of sales tax returns, amusement tax, parking tax and hotel tax filings, and advising on tax implications of compensation and benefit issues.
    • Ability to span a broad spectrum of issues ranging from the routine to complex.
    • Excellent time management and organization skills.
    • Ability to establish and cultivate relationships with Company finance and operations managers, peers in the tax profession, and external service providers.

     

    Physical Demands & Working Conditions:

    • Business hours for this position will fall between Monday-Friday 8:00AM-5:00PM and will require evenings/weekends as required based on operational need.
    • This job requires the visual ability to perform detailed work at close distances (computer screens, accounting ledgers, using measurement devices).
    • This job regularly requires verbal communication of detailed information to others either by phone or in person.

    Requirements:

    This position offers the right candidate opportunity for career development and growth at a dynamic entertainment and hospitality company. As a tax professional within the Company, the successful candidate will lead a scope of responsibilities including a variety of standard compliance activities, enhancements in internal controls, and strengthening of processes and workflow documentation related to transactional taxes. The position will work with operations, finance, taxing authorities, and service providers to identify issues, implement strategies, and ensure accurate tax reporting and compliance for the organization. This position is responsible for assisting with periodic review and/or examination of records by various taxing authorities, identifying opportunities for improvement, and helping educate fellow coworkers on the same. This position is responsible for month end closing and analysis related to the Company's various transaction taxes, including sales and use tax, parking tax, amusement tax, hotel occupancy taxes, and real estate taxes. Tasks include reconciliation of the aforementioned balance sheet and income statement accounts, as well as comparison to budget. This position is also responsible for ensuring the timely filing of returns related to sales and use tax, parking tax, amusement tax, hotel occupancy taxes, real estate taxes and unclaimed property. This position will report to and perform miscellaneous financial analysis projects and tasks at the request of the Managing Director of Treasury.

     

    Job Functions:

    • Review of sales and use tax, amusement tax, parking tax and hotel tax filings; Lead compliance efforts around Company's tax collection and reporting obligations, including collaboration with operations and information technology on point of sales systems, etc. Perform research and organize guidance relative to transaction taxes, especially sales tax. Review contracts and agreements relative to taxes. Coordinate any audits conducted on Company records by governmental agencies.
    • Review of real estate tax assessments and bills; lead analysis on impact of real estate tax assessments on various capital projects. Prepare annual real estate tax budgets, prepare reconciliation of the aforementioned balance sheet and income statement accounts, as well as comparison to budget. Maintain good standing relationship with tax authorities and providing on-site visits, as scheduled.
    • Plan, direct, and execute various transaction tax projects, including technology improvement to increase process efficiencies; Demonstrate initiative, creativity, and implement processes that improve the efficiency and accuracy of financial reporting and compliance activities.
    • Enhance process narratives related to transactional tax activities, including set-up, preparation, filing, and review/ reconciliation.

    • Perform tax research to support Company decision making process; Monitor existing and emerging tax law changes and assess the impact on the Company; Prepare research memoranda, written correspondence/guidance and other documents for submission to management and taxing authorities.
    • Research and advise on miscellaneous ad-hoc tax implications for items such as compensation and benefits.
    • Assist in gathering internal documents and supporting schedules for use by external parties for preparation of income tax provision and returns.
