    It is the responsibility of the Executive Director of Housekeeping and Uniforms/Laundry to manage, direct and ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the Mandalay Bay and Delano Housekeeping and Uniform/Laundry Departments, and perform duties as assigned by the Senior Vice President of Operations.  All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and Mandalay Bay policies, practices, and procedures, as well as with the framework and intent of the Mandalay Bay Mission Statement.

    • Use extensive knowledge of the industry to solve complex operational issues.  Focus on removing barriers and/or procedures that obstruct or prevent quality service experiences
    •  Evaluate employee performance and overall efficiency, providing immediate feedback to improve overall levels of productivity
    • Prepare annual departmental budget and provide supporting documentation when necessary.  Prepare justification for budget variations and projected increases for new projects
    • Work closely with department supervisors/managers to identify/resolve inefficient operations.  Informs the Senior Vice President of Operations of any issues/concerns, which may adversely affect the operation
    • Monitor, consistently reevaluate, and implement effective guidelines and procedures for inventory control
    • Study, formulate, and implement procedures that support the Mandalay Bay culture and vision
    • Develop short and long-range departmental objectives.  Monitor, document, and notify the Senior Vice President of Operations of any problems that may impact or jeopardize the achievement of current and future departmental objectives
    •  Provide empowerment guidelines for departmental employees by establishing boundaries for employee responsibilities and authority
    • Stay current and abreast with the latest in industry equipment and techniques
    •  Research and analyze existing data and trends, and takes action to reduce costs and increase revenues whenever possible
    • Interview and select the best qualified applicants to fill vacant key supervisory positions
    • Conduct periodic performance appraisals and counselings in accordance with department and Mandalay Bay policy.
    •  Continuously evaluate staffing levels in accordance with business demand, providing recommendations for adjustments whenever possible
    • Respond to customer correspondence/concerns in a professional and timely manner, achieving positive resolution
    •  Research supply sources, consult with purveyors, and ensure ongoing implementation of cost effective supply management control programs, submitting purchase orders for all supplies and equipment needed
    •  Ensure departmental operations manuals are kept current and accurately reflect the duties and functions of assigned employees
    •  Promote and develop a team oriented philosophy
    •  Perform other job-related duties as assigned
    •  Other job related duties as requested

    Education and/ or Experience:


    • 21+ years of age, proof of eligibility to work in the United States, High School diploma or equivalent, communicate effectively in English both in oral and written form, strong interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts, maintain a professional, neat and well-groomed appearance adhering to Mandalay Bay Resorts standards, work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays
    • At least five (5) years supervisory+ experience in a major hotel resort complex
    • Minimum one (1) year supervisory+ experience in a Union (bargaining unit) property
    • Must have an understanding of the legal ramifications and implications of various employees /customer actions
    • Good understanding of chemicals, formulas, fabric equipment, production flow methods, etc.
    • Excellent organizational skills to function effectively under time constraints and within established deadlines, with particular attention to detail
    • Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with employees
    • Possess strong leadership qualities, sound judgment, and superior decision-making and problem-solving skills
    • Ability to access all areas of the facility and travel off property when representing Mandalay Bay Resorts
    • Previous experience working in a similar resort setting


    • A BS degree in Hotel/Business Administration
    • Technical knowledge of hotel property management system.
    • Working knowledge of computer software such as Word, Excel, and Outlook
    • Strong knowledge of Opera
    • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills including writing correspondence and maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information
    • Establish/maintain effective working relationships with staff and management
    • Fast-paced, busy, and somewhat stressful environment
    • Maintain physical stamina and proper mental attitude and ability to deal effectively with guests, management, employees, and outside contacts while working under pressure and meeting deadlines
