    Responsibilities and Qualifications

    Position Overview: 

    Mercy is designated as a Center of Excellence (Hospitals that have demonstrated high quality, high ethics, and excellent patient outcomes), and certain employers contract with Mercy to perform Spine and Orthopedic Surgeries. Patients in this program travel from all over the United States to have procedures performed at Mercy.


    Patients from WalMart, McKesson, JetBlue, and Lowe's can participate in this benefit for Spine and Orthopedic (total knee and total hip replacements) services which offers complete care during and immediately after the procedure. 

    After the procedure, the patient is placed in a hotel to recuperate prior to travelling home. This position will assist the patient during this last phase of their care.  

    Duties include but are not limited to: 

    o    Assisting with toileting

    o    Assisting with showering

    o    Preventing patient falls

    o    Assisting with additional Activities of Daily Living

    o    Socializing with the participants

    o    Reporting incision questions/concerns to the physician/physician assistant/nurse practitioner/charge nurse


    This position is considered 24/7 care. Shifts will be 12 hours (7AM to 7PM or 7PM to 7AM), and shifts will be seven days on, seven days off. Please be sure that these shifts will work for you prior to applying. 


    Because you're committed to excellence, you understand the importance of being properly prepared for your role at Mercy. That's why you'll bring to your role the right set of qualifications:

    • High School Diploma
    • Able to obtain Vitals
    • Critical Thinking Skills 
    • Grip, push, pull up to 50lbs. Pinch up tp 10 lbs. Low positions knee crouch and crawl occasionally.
    • Six months of any of the following: Patient Care Associate, Certified Nursing Assistant, Unit Secretary, Cardiovascular Tech, Phlebotomy, Lab Tech, Surgical Services Assistant, clinical hospital experience.
