Standardized environmental metrics to simplify green hotel selection
Lanyon, Inc. (www.lanyon.com) today announced it has selected the Green Hotels Global (www.greenhotelsglobal.com) program as a source for environmental information about hotel properties worldwide.
Hotel properties that are members of the Green Hotels Global program will be identified to Lanyon corporate clients as leaders in environmental responsibility and disclosure. Room-night and event-related environmental metrics from each property will be available to travel buyers during their online sourcing and management of hotel suppliers. This information will allow Lanyon clients to easily identify the properties that are disclosing their environmental information and in turn invite them to participate in future requests for proposal (RFPs).
Green Hotels Global is the only hotel industry-specific program that provides standardized and comparable room-night and event-related environmental data.
“We have already assisted many of our corporate clients with their request for hotel properties to join Green Hotels Global. It is clear that the standardized metrics provided by Green Hotels Global meet the evaluation and measurement needs of the corporations around transient travel and meetings and events,” said Mike Boult, Chief Commercial Officer of Lanyon.
“Hotel properties that register in Green Hotels Global are empowering their clients with audited environmental data,” said Justin Raymond, President & CEO of The Carbon Accounting Company, the company that operates the Green Hotels Global program. “This allows for a cleaner RFP process as well as fact-based reporting on performance.”
Hotels that register in the Green Hotels Global program will have a strategic advantage when it comes to green meeting and event standards, such as the APEX/ASTM green meeting standard. Hotels that do business with the US government will also need to track and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, another advantage of membership in the program.
