Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association Looking For Deputy Director General & Director of Membership

  • Caribbean Hotel Association The Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association (CHTA) has created a new executive position with the dual title of Deputy Director General and Director of Membership and is looking to hire a qualified candidate to fill that position before the end of the year.

    CHTA, with offices in Coral Gables, FL; San Juan, Puerto Rico and Barbados, is a federation of 35 national hotel and tourism associations situated throughout and bordering the Caribbean basin with more than 1,200 members throughout the region.

    Applicants must have proven successful experience in association membership development and membership retention strategies including the ability to develop and market membership programs.

    "The successful candidate must be a strategic and global thinker with proven leadership skills in a demanding and multicultural environment," said Enrique De Marchena Kaluche, president of CHTA.

    The position description says: "The successful candidate must have strong interpersonal, entrepreneurial, financial, organizational and functional technology skills, and have the ability to communicate and respond to the needs of a diverse and multi-cultural range of stakeholders, including, hotel and allied members, national hotel and tourism associations, Caribbean governments, and multi-lateral and international funding agencies."

    Previous Caribbean tourism experience along with an in-depth knowledge of the Caribbean region and substantial association management experience are required.

    The opening is to work out of the Coral Gables office in Florida and therefore candidates must be able to work legally in the U.S. The position requires extensive travel within the Caribbean region, North America and Europe.

    Compensation is commensurate with experience and ability and would also be a blend of salary and an incentive membership development plan. Retirement and health benefits are also included.
