|
The 100-suite property will be located at 313 Gold Street in downtown Brooklyn near the Manhattan Bridge. Homewood Suites expects to break ground in September 2008, with an anticipated construction completion of the hotel in September 2009. |
'We are excited to begin work on the brand's first property in New York City,' said Rebecca Wyatt, senior vice president, brand management, Homewood Suites by Hilton. 'It will certainly become an instant marquis hotel for the brand and will join an impressive group of enterprises that are contributing to the development and refurbishment of Brooklyn.'
Homewood Suites has been following an aggressive growth plan for the past eight years that has fostered exceptional gains in brand portfolio expansion, and finds itself gaining ground on reaching its 250th milestone property later this year.
The property will be a joint new build with Hilton Garden Inn and offer approximately 100 Homewood Suites guest suites, configured in a layered tower-style setting in the high-rise building. There will be separate Homewood Suites and Hilton Garden Inn lobbies on different floors, as well as separate elevators leading to each brand's guest rooms. The building's second tower will be private residences.
The property will incorporate all the homelike amenities of a traditional Homewood Suites, including the Suite Start breakfast, Welcome Home reception, complimentary grocery shopping service*, complimentary high-speed internet, Suite Selection and mobile iPod Training.
Brooklyn, New York is characterized by an enormous amount of cultural diversity, a thriving art and music scene, numerous unique neighborhoods and an impressive architectural heritage. The property will be within minutes of downtown New York City by way of car or mass transit and the thousands of opportunities that only 'The Big Apple' can offer. Countless museums, sporting events, Broadway shows and festivals are just a few of the things that Homewood Suites by Hilton Brooklyn's guests will have access to. The location also is desirable for business travelers with mid- to long-term events and projects that will keep them based in New York City.
Launched in 1989, the Homewood Suites by Hilton brand today has more than 220 hotels open with approximately 130 in the development pipeline.
