Millennium and Copthorne Hotels Unveils its First Hotel in China |

Millennium & Copthorne International Limited (MCIL) will be unveiling its first hotel in China, Shanghai on 28 August 2006. This is a management contract signed with China owner, the Shanghai Workers Union which also owns hotels, villas and spas amongst other investments in China.
'We are very excited and look forward to unveiling the hotel group's first venture into China. Our Millennium Hongqiao Hotel in Shanghai comes at a time where the Asia segment of our business has experienced strong growth. We look forward to further strengthening our presence in China with our second hotel, the Millennium Beijing, scheduled to open in the capital city in the second quarter of 2008 in time for the Beijing Summer Olympics,' said Mr Michael Tan, executive vice-president (chairman's office) of Millennium & Copthorne International Limited.
Millennium Hongqiao Hotel Shanghai is a 5-star international hotel located along Yan An Xi Road and in the heart of the city's commercial and residential district in Hongqiao. It is within close proximity to convention and exhibition venues, plush residential community, the Carrefour Supermarket and the exciting entertainment area. With its central location, the hotel is a mere 10 minutes drive away from the city's domestic Hongqiao Airport and 40 minutes drive from the Pudong International Airport.
This 369-room deluxe hotel is uniquely designed with a glass façade where every corner of the hotel overlooks into a botanical haven of lush greeneries, exuding a sense of beauty and serenity. Millennium Hongqiao caters to the needs of business travelers and serves as a corporate retreat destination for both Chinese and multi-national companies.
All guestrooms and suites are spacious with contemporary design and tastefully furnished, complete with long bath and separate shower, electronic safe, flat screen LCD color television, broadband Internet access, electronic key card access, mini bar, coffee and tea making facilities.

Spectrum Chinese Restaurant - the hotel's premier signature outlet, featuring walk-in wine cellar and 12 private dining rooms accommodating up to 10 persons each room
TKNY Grill & Bar - a contemporary 'East meets West' cutting-edge restaurant with an adjacent lounge with live-entertainment
'O' Café - features a multitude of meal options from breakfast, snacks and buffets to international, Asian and new wave creations by the Chef
CHATZ Lobby Lounge - chill-out area perfect for a business discussion, catch-up with friends or just to relax, unwind and enjoy the live entertainment
Delicatessen - pastries and sweet delights for dine-in or takeaways
The hotel offers more than 1,000 square metres of exclusive function space, including two pillar-free ballrooms and nine function rooms of various sizes to meet the demands and expectations of organizers. These state-of-the-art meeting facilities are WiFi connected and well equipped for high-powered business and social events. The hotel's lush gardens are also ideal for outdoor weddings, garden parties and team building activities. A dedicated Catering and Meeting Services team will attend to different guests' needs.
