Hotel Scheduled to Open in January 2005 |
Country Inns & Suites By Carlson, the mid- tier lodging brand of Minneapolis-based Carlson Hotels Worldwide, announced the appointments of a general manager and director of sales at its corporate-owned hotel in New Orleans, La., which is scheduled to open late January 2005. Michael Larose has been named general manager and is responsible for managing the overall operations of the hotel. Larose has an extensive background in the hospitality industry, specifically in and around New Orleans, and was most recently the general manager at the Best Western French Quarter Landmark Hotel.
Amanda Reed has been appointed sales director and is responsible for the overall marketing and sales for the hotel. Reed has several years experience in sales and was previously an account executive with www.NewOrleans.Com.
"We are extremely pleased with the talent we have hired and are happy with the fact that both individuals are natives of New Orleans. It's always beneficial to have staff from the local community. Not only is their knowledge and history of the area important, but their previous involvement in the business community is valuable as well," said Bob Johnson, director of operations, Carlson Hotels Worldwide.
Located just off the French Quarter at 315 Magazine Street, the 155-room hotel is being developed in seven historic buildings dating back to the 1860s. The buildings are listed on the U.S. Register of National Historic Places. The hotel will keep the historic charm by highlighting exposed beam ceilings; slate floors and brick walls. The property will include 1,300 feet of meeting space; a pub with atrium seating; outdoor pool and courtyard; exercise facility; complimentary breakfast; and wireless high speed Internet access throughout public areas. In addition to other standard amenities, each guest room will offer free high speed Internet access; free local calls; and an in-room safe. Also, there will be contracted parking adjacent to the hotel.
As a leader in the mid-scale hotel segment, Country Inns & Suites By Carlson locations feature residential architecture and home-like interior design with highlights that include hardwood flooring, lobby fireplace and front porch.
Each hotel offers many upgraded amenities such as complimentary breakfast, in-room hair dryer, coffee maker, iron and ironing board, and weekday morning newspaper. The brand is known for its consistently high quality accommodations and personal, warm hospitality providing guests "A Cozy Stay at a Comfortable Price."
For the 12th year in a row, Country Inns & Suites has earned a 98 percent guest return rate, one of the highest in the industry. As a way to thank guests for their loyalty to the brand, Country Inns & Suites provides an in- house lending library program at its North American hotels called "Book It And Return" which lends free books to guests based on the assurance they will return the book on their next visit. For every book returned to a Country Inns & Suites hotel, the company makes a $5.00 donation to ProLiteracy Worldwide.
